How to feed fish while on vacation

I've had my fish tank for about a week and next week I'm going on vacation. I have a small snowflake eel and a baby clown triggerfish.
How should I feed them while I'm away if I can't get anyone to come over and help?
Also, the baby triggerfish is so small that it has gotten sucked up the filter. So I only run the filter when I'm at home. Would this fish be okay if I didnt run the filter for a week? Can I put material over the filter so the fish can't get sucked up? I have 20lbs of live sand in the tank but no live rock. Also, no invertibrates.
This is a suprise vacation, otherwise I would have waited to get the fish.

You need to be running that filter all the time. You can put a mesh netting on the intake to help keep the trigger from getting sucked up.
Can you post a picture of the tank and the filter where the fish is getting sucked in?
These fish really shouldn't go more than 4 days at the most without eating and that's really a stretch. It's likely that if you leave them unfed, the eel is going to attempt to make that trigger lunch.
what is you eel eating?

The only reason I'm weary on recommending an auto feeder is because of the eel. It's really dependent on what the eel is eating and how secure the lid is.
In my experience, eels will find auto feeders and if they can get to them, they'll take the food out.
Good to know BTLD!! Thanks for the heads up.
OP, how is that eel doing with no Live Rock in the tank?? I would think that it would be a bit stressed without any hiding places. Do you have any other decor in the tank for the eel to hide?
