How To Freshwater Dip?

Just wondering how you actually do this for treating Ich. Do you just, quite literally, dip the fish into freshwater for a few minutes?

Freshwater dip: prepare a bucket of fresh water (RO/DI). Bring the temperature to that of the DT, use pH buffer to pring pH to that of DT. Put the fish in the fresh water bucket for 3 minutes. Then move the fish back to the DT.
However... freshwater dip does not cure ich. It may make some of the ich fall off, but not all of it.

The dip should only be used if the fish is in danger of dieing from the parasites before other cures will have time to take effect. It is disorienting and stressful to the fish but is better than succumbing to the parasites. It does not make all of the parasites fall off, as mentioned.

Ditto to the method.
I endorse the FW dip as a starting point for ich treatment. I used it in the first day when I found out I had ich. I'm convinced it saved my SB clownfish's life. I was gone for a few days, came home, and the ich the poor fish had gotten in that time was horrible to see. I started to lower to hypo, and dipped the clown, who got the worst of the ich.

FW dips do not really "treat" ich. At best, it can knock off some parasites, but certainly not all. In my view, its far more stressful and hazardous, especially for someone who does not know how to do it, then whatever small advantage you might obtain from the procedure.
Treat ich with hyposalinity. Best choice. You will need to constantly babysit the QT during treatment, since its not cycled.
The FW procedure is: Using RO water in a dedicated container that is aerated, you bring the pH and the temp up to the exact same parameters of your display tank (or whatever conditions the fish are living in). You bath the fish in this for 3-5 mins. Expect to see extreme behavior, and shock.
After the procedure, return the fish to the QT.
Unless the fish are in dire conditions with ich, and at risk of death, I'd hold off.
