how to keep sump clean

i wanted to know if there is anything i can put in my sump to help keep it clean. like cucumbers or snails, what type should i get to help keep it clean. thanks

depends on if you are trying to grow and type of mcroalgaes down there or not. I grow calupra and a few other plants down there as a food source for my tangs so the messier the better. The plants also eat some of the nutrients in the water and help to stabalize the tank a little bit. If you dont have anything down there i usually throw the unwanted hitchhikers down there like crabs that arent reef safe that came for free with my live rock. They act as a clean up crew.
