how to make your bubble tip split...

Question for all you advanced reefers, how can i make my RBTA split? My water params are perfect and within the last week, i've upgraded to MH. I'd like to know if there's any trick to induce the splitting of my anenome? I'm sure he will eventually, but I'd like to speed up the process because I think he's too big right now. When fully stretched out, I'd say he's a good 10" in diameter. If I have time later, I'll post some pics. Your input will be greatly appreciate

Putting one under stressfull conditions ( like moveing to another tank ) or cutting half way through it can often result in a successfull split, or, also can often end up killing them.
Feeding them alot sometimes works but still takes time and could just result in a bigger anemone.
No guarantees and all have risk of one degree or another.
Perhaps the change in the lighting may be enough to cause it to split soon.

The only way to "make" an anemone split is to try to stress it into splitting.
Obviously this is not a good idea, nor is it recommended.

ya, I don't want to kill it so I guess I'll just let him be for now and see what happens. Thanks for the advice

I can totally relate. We have a gbta that has taken over our 92g tank. Our sebae moved himself close to the bta so they are now fighting. The bta is almost on top of our hammer coral. He is the largest bta I've ever seen. I would love to see a pic of yours! We are hoping that ours will split but it hasn't happened yet. I've had people tell me I can lightly slice across the mouth with a razor to induce splitting but no way could I be that cruel or reckless.

i've never gotten ice to work. best way is to hold the rock a little above the water, then massage the foot and try to lift it off the rock, using gravity and the water below to entice the anenome to drop off. works like a charm for me
