How to maove a Puffer?

I want to find out what the best way to move a puffer from one tank to another is. I don't want to use a net because he puffs everytime I get near him with a net. Also don't want to chance him taking in air when he puffs. I've always been told not to let water from pet store tanks mix with my tanks. So how can I safely move the puffer, and not the water?

Thanks for the advice. I know that netting the fish is stressfull, but wasn't sure of the easiest way to move them without netting. I also need to move my volitan at the end of the week from my q-tank to my main tank. The containers that I have are big enough for all the fish I currently have.

i just moved my puffer from my qt to my main .. i used a big bowl and i kinda nudged him in there with a net and then just put the entire bowl in the main tank so he could swim out freely .. it took me awhile to get him in the bowl because i didnt want him to puff .... good luck
