how to promote breeding

I have a 120g with a Klein butterflyfish, 4 chromis, and 2 Clownfish. The Clownfish are small and probably one inch tops. They swim together sometimes, but are on opposite ends most of the time..what can I do to promote them becoming a breeding pair? The addition of an Anemone? Please help because I am worried of my chances. Thanks.

first one has to assert dominance and become the female.... you will know this is happenening when the larger one usually starts to bat the other with her tail and chasing the male around the tank.. if they are both still small it could take a few months for one to change.. and there is not really any way of making this happen...it either happens or doesnt..and once they become a pair they dont always lay eggs either...there are specific parameters clows like for breeding (im not sure exactly) but I had a maroon pair and they only ever laid eggs 2 times in 5 years...

If it is shaking up against/ right beside the other clown YES! if its all by its lonesome then probably not....

What foes it mean if the clown shakes?
Was it shaking at the other clown...or was it wiggling against the glass? Is it shaking just hanging out doing nothing?

  • Shaking at another clown is a lot like submitting to the mate kind of thing.

  • Wiggling against the glass and they are trying to dislodge some algae to nibble on
Last...if it is just shaking for no reason, it might be sick
