How to properly clean fans

Im guessing the obvious answer here is that compressed air in a can but is there anything else i can use? These JBJ fans are driving me crazy, they arent spinning as fast as it used to and i think something is clogging the spinning part where i cant reach. In the morning i have to use a stick to get the fan to start. Is there a dust filter or something i can use that wont burn up from the heat of the Power compacts?

Canned air is the best. If you have to start the fans manually that isnt good. You can find dust screens designed for the computer world. These guys have lots of sizes and colors

thanks shane i didnt know there were metal screen, i only seen ones made out of this foam like materal

Ive had an aluminum one on my PC fan intake and it works pretty good.

How old are your fans?. It sounds like you have a bearing going out on it. This adds resistance and the fan will not start on it's own and with the added resistance they will not spin as fast.
