how to put an overflow in glass tank

My friend OSUAquarist is about to start a 125 FOWLR tank. We already have an older 125 which is currently being uses as a freshwater tank. How do people install the nice looking black box overflows? What should we use to glue/bind the overflow to the glass? I think the bottom pane is tempered so we are going to need to drill a hole in the lower corner and have it just drain out from there. The part we are stuck/confused on is how to install the actual overflow box.
