How to quarantine Mandarin?

I'm going to be getting a Target Mandarin within the next couple of weeks....
How does one go about quarantining a Mandarin?
I've read that mandarins are pretty disease resistant. they have a slime coat that protects them from ick and other parasites. they're also supposed to emit a foul smell or taste, which further protects them from predators and stuff.
Is any of this true?
My QT tank consists of a 29 Gallon with 2" of LS, and ~15lbs of LR.
There are *some* pods running around, but I doubt it's enough for the mandarin's 3-4 week stay.
Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

If your lfs sells live brine you should try to
see if your mandarin will eat it.I got lucky, mine does.I also add a few drops of zoe to the brine container @ least 12 hrs.before feeding for enrichment. If you do go thhis route make sure to strain(in a brine net)the brine from the water they come in just prior to feeding as their holding water will be high in trites.Good luck.
