ok, i just got a maxi-jet 1200 for my 14g nano. The flow is great, but the tank is also in my bedroom, and is very loud, making it hard to fall asleep. How can i quiet this thing down?

Dang... I've got an MJ on my nano and I can't even hear it.
Is the pump vibrating against the tank? If so, you may try placing a bit of filter media or a scotch brite pad underneath it to dampen the vibrations.
If the pump is just vibrating... something's gotta be wrong with it.

i dont think it is touching the sides. I put some sponge to cushion it. Could it be that it's brand new and will quiet down after a day or two?

Our MJ's and Koralia's are all quiet. There might be wrong with your unit. What kind of a sound is it?

no bubbles. Its not extremely loud though. I had a full night of sleep last night. Its about as load as small air conditioner. It is not touching any plastic directly. This 1200 is also more than 2x the gph, so it may just be normal.

no. I have 2 on my turtle tank, and I can barley hear them. I would compare it to... a very quiet computer?

what "attatchments" do you guys have on yours? Mine has nothing on it. Just the tube, going into a L-Bend, and into the tank.
I also think it may be that tubing and the plastic L-bend. When i hold the tubing it quiets down. If it is that 3 inch tube and L-bend, how can i quiet that?
