the macro setting of course...you a tripod if you can...or something to keep your hand/camera steady...if too bright, with my macro setting i can adjust the lighting, and i put it to -.7 to help balance it...thats on my seahorse thank though...on my reef i just put on macro, zoom as much as i can before it gets out of focus, and take 100 shots to get one

best way to take pics in an aquarium is a few tips.
first tip get a few feet away from the tank. this will help cut down any any distortion from the glass if not shooting straight on.
Next try not to use a flash. it will just bounce off the glass and look like a big nasty spot.
Use a tripod
If need be bump up the ISO and lower the fstop to give you a little faster shutter speed.
OHH and if your camera has manual settings.
try not to shoot in those preset ones..they make things worse.
use Apature or in M mode..so you can set the apature and shutter speed to help get the effect and look you want..will help make your pics much nicer.

I had same problem, there was another thread on this somewhere around here....... But the thing that helped me the most was a tripod and a good photo editing software. Most of my pics look OK, but after the software edits them,it actually looks like I know what Im doing.

one thing ,always shut off all of the other lights in the room except for the tank lights, and turn off the flash.
if it has an auto white balance function, thats when you use it, then micro adjust from there. a tripod is worth its weight in gold.
