How to tell if a GSP is dead

How would you know if a GSP is dead?

Good question.
My guess is when the base purple part is no longer purple... but then I've never seen any dead GSP

ok well the mat of mine is purple and is still growing, it just wont come out been about 3 weeks now. It kinda comes out for a day or two then disapears for a few days. I am at a loss.
