how to tell the sex of clown fish?

how do i tell the --- of PERCULA CLOWN fish? i have a 7 gallon tank with 3lb of live rock..thinking about adding another 3lb of live rock...how many PERCULA CLOWN can i keep in this tank...thank

The larger one is usually the female, and the smaller is the male. I believe when they are babies, they are born males, but I could be wrong.

Percula clowns are like transexuals, if you get 2 of em... one will grow larger than the other(female) and the other one will stay smaller(male). You could probably get away with a pair in a 7gal, BUT that would be IT!!!! Nothing else!! I heard that you could keep a pair in a 10gal.

IMO, 2 is pushing it, (i wouldn't)but it may possibly be done, if you are diligent
just be sure to get a smaller one than the one you have, and make sure it is not the larger one in the tank at the lfs
oh, and someone recently corected me and my wife, they do not start as males, but as juveniles which are sexually immature and then they develope either the male or female based on dominancy(female larger), and then if the female dies, the dominant male will take dominancy and become female, then the next dominant sexually immature will then become the male, and so on (normally in home aquariums, there's only 1 or 2 so it stops there, but this is how it is supposed to work)

I think your right since percs easily grow 3-4". Times 2 and that's morethan 1" of fish per gallon in that setup, but hobbyists have made discoveries, like Axelrod and dwa4rf koi, through basic abuse in feeding of the animals at hand.
