How to treat Lymphocyctis

Found this on the net:
Lymphocyctis virus. This virus induces massive cells to form which appear grossly as grayish-white masses on the fins and gills. Such abnormal cells may also be found in the muscle and body cavity. May be confused with chlamydia infections (epitheliocystis), parasitic cysts or sarcomas. Infections are usually self-limiting and may spontaneously clear of their own accord.
Another web site says there is no proven treatment.
Saw in another message board thread that Beth recommended hypo treatment. If this is a virus vs a parasite, it doesn't seem like hypo would be effective. But what do I know?

Lymphocyctis is best cleared by correct water parameters, A varied and nutritiouis diet and the additions of vitamines to boost the immune system. You are correct, it is a virus. What is the best way to combat a virus? A healthy immune system and proper living conditions.

I don't recall ever recommending hyposalinity to threat lymphocyctis. As said, this is caused by a virus, though not the virus itself. The fish can make good recovery just by providing it with a good living environment and quality food.

Thanks for the info - the two spots he has have been stable for a couple of weeks. i.e. it's not getting worse, so I'll follow your recommendations and hope to see him on the mend soon.
