How would this sump be set up?

Hello All,

I have a 90 gallon "reef" tank. (not much of a reef tank yet)...
I recently was given an acrylic sump casing, but and not 100% sure how I would set it up and if it would be beneficial compared to what I currently have set up.
Current sump is pictured above, it is very crowded with my pump, heater, and protein skimmer.
The new one, if I use it will barely fit under my tank. Is bigger always better? I know I will have more space for my pump and skimmer, also I will be able to increase overall water volume, and maybe add a refugium? The new one also includes (not pictured) an acrylic piece to hang a 7" Sock from and a hole for my return. I know, because it is clear, it is hard to see...

I would love any advice.
Thanks
Troy

I appreciate the reply... I might not have explained myself very well.
I was more or less asking how it could be set up or "arranged" might be a better word? I see a place on each end for a coarse foam block, but was wondering about all the compartments. I am new at this and haven't seen too many sumps, much less with this many different partitions.
So looking for advice on a) whether or not it is worth setting up vs what I have now
and b) if so, how might it be set up/ arranged with the pump, skimmer, maybe a refugium and their respective location in this sump?
I hope that clears up the intent of my post.
Thanks again

skimmers should be in the first part after the wool or filter sock part and sump counts as your total aquarium volume so put as much as water in there as you can , sumps are basicly your own taste in filterration and there are some rules but overall its all up to you .

Ok, that helps, so it is definitely worth upgrading.
When you have a sump with a sock (as this would have) where would you put carbon? or is it not really needed?
Thanks

Carbon use is good for Corals and it makes the water more clear but it obsorbs additives if its in the water when adding , and anywhere with a medium-high flow is good . the more water contact the faster obsorbment . some even put carbon in media reactors .
