If you want to have the most flow in the tank then I would have them work together. Have them pointed in the same direction (not pointing toward each other). Place them in a way in which the water wants to swirl in a constant direction. This way you will have the most flow across your LR and your substrate where you need it. If you put one in the front, blowing to the right and another one in the back, blowing to the left, then you will get a swirling action which will distribute the water more effectively than just pointing them toward each other.
