HQI and Single ended MH

Whats the difference between single ended and double ended MH? Is HQI the same as the double ended? Is one better than the other? Thanks.

sinlge end bulbs have a uv shield built into them double end bulbs require a uv shield. there are more single ended bulbs available. which one is better really depends on bulb, ballast, reflector combination. the term hqi was originally from a specific brand but has become a general term for double ended bulbs in the usa. europe uses the term hqi more specifically. there is some science behind the term that i dont know, but to through a twist into it i am pretty sure a couple single ended bulbs are actually hqi. there have been a couple indepth threads on this on the other big forum
