how long has the tank been up and running?
try a 20 to 25% water change that might bring the levels down before the fish..... <img src="graemlins//dead.gif" border="0" alt="[dead]" />

I would say you interupted the cycles process. When you do a water change durring the cycle it's likely you could end up starting the process over. I would remove the fish until your tank is ready. It's not a good idea to have fish, especially the lion and puffer, in the tank durring cycle. Also from what I've read the lion and puffer is not a good mix. The puffer will more than likely end up nipping at the lions fins causing stress and damage to your lion. Beside the puffer will probably outgrow the 80.

Cool,
You added too many fish at once. I would take the puffer and lion out immediately and back to the pet store. The damsels might be able to survive....someone else will give an opinion on that. I think the rule of thumb is to only add one or two fish at a time. Good luck

COULD IT BE I AM FEEDING THEM TOO MUCH BECAUSE A FED THEM QUITE ALOT OF FORMULA 1 AND THEY DIDNT EAT IT ALL AND I JUS TLET THE REMAINS OF THE FOOD DISOLVE COULD THAT BE WHY THE NITRITES AND AMMONIA IS HIGH

I think you answered your own question here. If the fish don't eat all the food then you should remove the remaining food. How often do you feed? My lion eats about every other day. The puffer I have no idea as I have no experience with them. The damsels can go for awhile without food. When I 1st got into this hoby I started with damsels. I had plenty of LR, and only fed them 1-2 times a week.

Sure sounds to me like a system that has not completed its cycle....then with the addition of the lion and puffer things went way out of wack!!!!
I would suggest you remove the new fish....let the system cycle(you said you have damsels right).
Personally I would not do water changes until the system completes its cycle. let the ammonia / nitrite / nitrate levels drop to zero and become stable. Then add the fish you plan to keep.Slowly...and monitor the water to insure the bio-load can be handled.
I may be wrong here but it sure sounds like a cycle in progress that got seriously disrupted.

It sounds to me as if someone at your LFS is unexperienced, or just hoping to get a sale. If you got the fish at that LFS then the worker there should have told you that your tank was not cycled yet, or couldn't hold the bio load. Someone there should have explained to you that you had too many fish to add at one time. How long have you been in SW anyway?

yeah i agree with nm reef just let the tank cycle itself again and slowly introduce the fish back into the tank. remeber patience is the key the tank will look the same if you put the fish in now or a year from now. Take your time and do it right the 1st time it will save you a lot of time stress and money.
