I have had a small Humu in my q tank for about 4 days. All the water specs are good. He tends to lay on his side in the corner quite a bit which scares the
out of me. Is this normal behavior for a trigger or is he struggling? I'm a new hobbyist and this is my first Trigger. thx

Put since i got my dalmation puffer, i have noticed them sleeping in the same little "cave" close together

Mine gets a mouth full of live sand and spits it all over the place. Theres sand all over my rocks, my plumbing, and he spits it right on top of my snowflake eel. Mine is really weird. because if we don't pay any attention to him all day he would lay on the sand in the corner and just stay there. One time we went to Los Angeles for about 4 days and I had my uncle feed him. So when we arrived that night we went to the tank to check him out. and he was floating on top of the water. I thought he died to I tried to get him with the net and I pushed him down and he just floated all the way to the sand so we thought he died because he wouldn't move. then I went to go to my room and I was in there for a while and when I came back he was swimming all over the tank. He sometimes gets little rocks and hits the aquarium wall. or to call our attention, since I have an acrylic tank and theres the other piece of acrylic on top he bites it and makes a really loud kissing sound. So that just him.

I know people will try to kill me when they read this, but.......i have a Humu in my reef tank, yes my reef tank. I put him in there before i knew what i was doing, but he is awesome and does not pick at anything. Had him in for about 4 months, and he sleeps on his side under a tounge coral. Its crazy.

Mine goes nuts when he sees me. When I do anything to the tank all the fish hide, not him, hes like a psyco path....looks like a skull on a wire swimming on a path almost only leaving it to pick up a mouthful of sand and swim back on the path only to spit the sand in a new spot of the tank with each pass..........but by far the best fish.... :happyfish

Humus are strange little buggers. Some of them turn into the tank terror, while others are pussycats. I've heard all manners of stories about them and the level of aggression that they have, and it runs the full gamut. Count your blessings Rob...you got one of the good ones. Probably the only types of triggers I'd even think about keeping in a reef based on what I've read would be those in the genera Melichthys and Xanthichthys.
