I just decided to abandon the coral dream due to the lighting I would need to buy and what not, so today I bought a humu- humu and spiny puffer to accompany my niger trigger i had They are all fairly small, and was wanting to add one more fish to my 55. Any input on a flame angel or lionfish to add?
What do you think?

I think you are pretty full as it is as those fish will get big in no time. You'll prob add something so I would tell you get something a bit more aggressive than the two you suggested. Honestly, if you want more fish for movement you would need to get rid of the triggers and puffer.
You could do something like a 6'line wrasse, Royal Gramma, flame hawk, a clown, and fish of that size.

alright, thank you very much for the suggestions. Well now with the puffer and triggers and I cant convince myself to get any sort of corals, haha. But I would like to get one more fishy added in there. I think I might go for the flame hawk. Right now I have mysis shrimp and prime reed for food, What else should I get to feed the guys i have now?

The humu is a slow grower but the niger will grow very fast, at least mine did. But you can keep them in a 55gal for a while. As they get bigger and feel crowded, they'll become more and more agressive.

DO NOT GET A GROUPER OF ANY KIND for a 55 . A panther grouper will out grow a 55 in a matter of months . The get ugly and big and they will eat you out of house and home . They are a bad choice.
Honestly for a 55 you are pretty much maxed out already .
If you HAVE to add another fish ?!?!?! I would sugest a damsel of some sort . No more triggers, puffers, Wrasses are to active and groupers are just a bad idea in general for a 55.

and absolutely no lions with those triggers, I would start thinking about a much larger tank, although they are fairly slow growers your huma will get to be the size of a football, and the niger will get even larger.

alright, Ill scratch the idea of any lions with the triggers, I think im gonna go for some sort of small bottom dwelling creature like a flame hawk, blenny, goby, jawfish, something like that. Or how would a small flame angel stack up? They are all real small right now so I know in the future I will have to choose between a larger tank or selling them.
And about the puffer, What food should I feed him? All I have right now is mysis and prime reef, and some small pellet food.

Ive been reading they like bivalves, should I buy like some mussels from the grocery store or anything like that for him?

You aren't just maxed, you're more then maxed. A Spiny puffer? I can only assume you mean a Porcupine Puffer, who will be good in a 55 for no more then a year. 2 triggers in that tank is like Mad Max and Tina Turner in a 10' diameter Thunderdome. Trouble is coming. You need to reevaluate your stocklist now before you run into some major problems(which you will in the near future).

He could mean a Spiny Burrfish?
If that is the case, that's actually a bit worse, Spiny's almost always come in with internal parasites and need to be fed food soaked in PraziPro, and they usually are pretty timid around more aggressive fish.

You are def. at your fish limit, Im surprised your tank hasn't crashed yet with all those fish in such a small tank. I think you should abandon the one more fishy idea as well IMO.

What are your water peramiters looking like ? I am worried you might be pushing the bio load on such a new tank . Adding another fish might be too much .

I don't think a small humu, niger and puffer are going to crash a 55gal. Now when they grow up... that's a different story. You'll need a good fuge and skimmer. But hey, I kept a niger, humu, foxface, lawnmower blenny, yellow wrasse and 2 maroon clowns in a 65 and had 0 nitrates at all times. I just did it with a deep sand bed, fuge and Euro-Reef skimmer. I'm more worried about agression between the fish when they grow up a little. That's what happened to me, then I moved them to a 150.

Yes the aggression and overcrowding is the main problem. Water quality can always be improved via additional filtration and water changes.

alright thanks guys, i appreciate all the input im definitly gonna wait at least a month and see how all the water paremeters check out and see how the fish do before making any changes to the tank.

I agree with RCreations, you can have those three inthere for about a year or maybe a little more, I had a LOT of fish in my 35 for a year until we moved and i was able to set up my 150. Some fish grow alot slower than others, some more. My niger has grown an inch in just 3 months so its questionable. Either way, once you get into it, youll want a bigger tank anyway

I already want a bigger tank, if it wasnt for college and moving from apartment to apartment id be there...its going to be enough fun taking the 55 down from the third floor when i move out of this apartment at the end of the summer.
