Hungry Lionfish

He couldn't wait for his meal...

If you can't tell from the pic, he is actually biting the net. It didn't seem to do anything as he just spit it out in a second, won't be using that feeding method again though.

I am thinking of getting a lionfish once my new tank is up and running. What are you feeding it in that pic, a Molly?
I heard/read you can feed them mollies. I would imagine silversides as was mentioned. What else? Do they have to be fed only live or will they eat frozen?

It is definately not recommended that you feed Lionfish freshwater fish. It will cause severe health problems in the future....

Yep, defiantely is not good for the lion. fw fish have to much fatty content to them. it will actually kill the lion. Get him on ghost shrimp gut loaded or mysis, silversides, fresh squid, octo. etc. Barry

As these guys have stated, FW fish aren't the best. It's only the lion's second week in his new home, so I'm just glad he's feeding. To note, this lionfish came from SWF.com.

you have to feed them veried food, such as silversides, krill, scallop, shrimp, squid, and just a bunch of different things, not specific things, just a lot of variety
