i hate to say this, but don't jump the gun, irealize you are trying to be realistic, but i would hope to save the one you have, if possssible
not sure if this is what you are referring to, but
we
1st acclimate teh temp by putting the bag in the tank,
2d tehn after @15 to 20 min, we add a little tank water to the bag
3d we repeat
4th repeat
(you get the point)
do ti a couple of times for fish, and several for more delicate creatures, for inverts like stars(or anything delicate) do several doses over a couple of hours, the slower the better, then add the creature to you tank, BUT not the water, you should discard the water(just in case)

From what I remember 'Drip' utilizes something as air tubing to siphon water from the tank into the container of the new addition, elemenating the need to float but takes much longer. Slow the siphon to a slow drip and let it go. i forget the time think its 6-8 hours

to do a drip...
get a small piece of air tubing. fill it up with water.. then make sure it is dripping. put the tube into the bag with the fish and rubberband it shut.. then tie a small loose know in the tube.. then dunk the whole thing underwater.. tighten the knot and make sure water is getting into the bag.. this will add a few drops of water a minute and slowy aclimate the fish..
btw.. only about 10% of hobbiest use this method..
