My understading of them is that the controllable ones are designed to work with their new wavemaker and you would need the wavemaker to run them. The regular ones you just plug in and let run.

From what I have read they are suppose to be different. Koralia's standard pumps are ones that I would not trust with a wave maker where the power to them are turned on and off.
Here is what the controllable PH looks like
Here is the standard PH
From what I can tell with a n.a.k.e.d eye, they look exactly the same.

i think they r the same, but not sure. the way the koralia wavemaker works is by reducing electricity to the pump as to not completely shut it off. again i am not definite. best to call them directly.

I had read somewhere that the new controlable ones worked on low voltage. I will have to go back and see if I can dig it up.

One place selling them online has them listed as 12V controllable pumps. The controller must have some sort of power converter built in to make these pumps run correctly. I would say that the contolable ones have completely different motors in them and not just different plugs.

The controllable looks like it uses a few more watts than the regular ones. Using DC voltage will let the controller ramp the output of the PH up and down without burning up the motor. Try that with an AC version and you will be buying quit a few of them cause that won't last.

Has anyone used the new controllable ones yet? I was curious what someone thought of them.

Based on your pictures they look 100% alike

Looks like the pictures were deleted. Anyways, the do look exactly the same, but I believe the difference is the AC vs DC.
