geez thats low. I never knew it was that low. Then I guess when they are through Qting you drip them with your show tank water to acclimate them back to the higher level of salinity before putting back in show tank?

Yes it is low, but they do fine in it. Yes, slowly acclimate the fish back to the normal salinity level.

im attempint to hypo my fish now....and i did it today around 4pm
its now 9:30pm and the fish look worse! They ich has spread on my coral beauty and on my purple pseudo. Although they are a bit livelier b/c of the low salinity...but im hoping for some results soon.
Any sugestions
my tank is a 72 gal....all fish (1 piece of lr)
1 coral beauty
1 lemon peel
1 purp. pseudo
2 damino damsels
1 blue/green chromis
i put all my inverts in a quarenteen tank while i kept all my fish in the main tank for the hypo.
my salinity is 1.009 and ph is normal (8.2).

You should lower them over a 48 hour period so not to stress them. Is that what you did?
But yes, you should see some results soon.
My fish are also in hypo and I saw results almost overnight. I'm sure not evey fish is the same though. Good luck.

well...i had read that you should make it a several day, gradual decent in salinity. But when i talked to my local expert, he said to go ahead and lowere it quickly. His logic was they ich would have a less chance to adjust to the drastic change in salinity. '
it sounded like a good idea at the time. so i went w/ it. I dont think the problem lies in salinity shock...but that i have super human ich in my tank that is resistant to kryptonyght and nuclear waste...grrr damn ich!!
My coral Beauty is covered! Im considering a fresh water bath soon.... :(

Your local expert is a dunce. Ich is not even effected by hypo [or copper for that matter] until the "attached" phase of the disease is over. The fish are indeed shocked due to the rapid hypo saline state.
