My lfs acclimate all fish into hypo water. The do this over the course of 24 hours. If a fish is in there for 2 weeks under hypo, would it still be necessary to qt them. How would you acclimate them to your tank??Thanks in advance if I get a reply.

When they say that they acclimate them to hypo water, what specific gravity do they specifically mean?

OK,so I called them and asked.Thier sg is 1.011 at all times. They also said they run copper throughout the tanks. They use rubbermaid tubs (one with cycled water) and acclimate them to it over 24 hours. They only get fish if needed or once a month. They tested the water in front of me because of all my questions/concerns.BUT,they also told me that the small amounts of copper I was taking home would be ok to put in my tank when I expressed that concern. That still doesn't seem right to me.All the fish they have look really good.I visit often and there are fish that have been there for some time.?????????????Owner says he strives to sell quality, disease free fish.

Well, true hyposalinity is 1.009. For this reason, I would still quarantine any and all fish. That is how low you must go for ich to stop breeding.
Also, DO NOT put any copper into your water. That is flat-out wrong. There IS some copper in natural seawater, but a very tiny, miniscule amount. If copper is being added to the water, there is already too much copper. Sea salts actually have a slight trace of copper in it.
