Hypo salinity, will it make a difference?

I have a purple tang with Ich. My QT has a sick lion fish in it so I have no choice but to hypo my DT. I have been lowering the salinity as per the directions in the FAQ section on disease but due to external forces it has taken 72 hours to lower the salinity to 1.009. Directions say to lower over a 48 hour period. Will this time difference cause me to not be successful in curing the Ich.

No, it will not make a difference. Hyposalinity starts at 1.009. Have you removed all of the live rock and inverts?

Someone will correct this if wrong but I think the 48 hours is a minimum. If it takes longer will not be a problem.

Yes, that is correct. I took several days with my last hypo. It wasn't intentional, I was just very busy and not home enough. I didn't want to shock the fish by adding too much fresh while I was home. The hypo still went smoothly and was done in the same amount of time.
