Hypo salinity

I am testing to see how much salt to mix with 1 gallon of water to make a 1.009 salinity solution. I think it is 1/4 a cup. Has anyone else calculated this?

1.009 is a reading for specific gravity. The actual salinity is the more important reading. Shoot for 14 ppt when doing hypo. SG is temperature dependent so it will be harder to get an exact amount of salt to add to attain that level. A lot also depends on the accuracy of your measuring instrument. What are you using to measue the salinity?
