Hypo vs. Copper

Why does everyone here push the Hyposalinity method if the only way to do it accuratly is with a $100 refractometer?
Is copper really that bad for the fish?
I agree if you can do it, buy a refractometer, but if not, why even try hypo?
I see lots of threads about accuracy of S.G.
I am treating 2 clowns right now and they don't seem to be getting better, probably because I don't have a refractometer.
I am going to brong my S.G. back up and use copper.
I should have known better than to buy them at ***** in the first place!

Hmm, I thought copper was easier than that.
My clowns went through about 10 days of hypo (if I had the S.G. right) and all signs of white spots went away.
I'll bring the S.G. back up and wait 2 more weeks to see if they still look ok.
Sound good?

Be patient. Buy a refractometer. With all the money you have in your setup, what's $100? copper will also destroy the liver of fish.

Also, remember while they are in the h tank you are "treating" the main tank by giving it 30 days for the ich to die out because it does not have a host fish. Otherwise you might end up curing your fish and putting them back in a tank just to catch ich again.

My main tank is fine, I quarantined these fish before they ever made it to the main tank.
I cannot afford a refractometer right now, I have been out of work since November.
I will watch them for a few weeks and see if the spots come back. I'll start hypo again if I have to.
