Hyposalinity

Beginning April 18 (25 days ago) I began lowering my salinity in my dt (130 gallon, w wet/dry, uv and skimmer) (no inverts or lr) from 1.026 (35 ppt). On April 22 (21 days ago) the salinity steadied at 1.009 (12 ppt). On April 26 (17 days ago) all signs of ick had disappeared. All livestock (Emporer Angel, Foxface, Flame Angel, 2 blue devils, domino damsel, 2 striped damsels, dragon goby, orchid dottyback, purple and yellow dottyback and locally caught sole) are doing fine. All tank parameters are great water temp 80 - 81. How much longer should I run the tank in hyposaline conditions? I'm thinking until at least May 20 if not 27. Any ideas or suggestions?

May 18, you can begin the slower acclimation process back to normal salinity. However, before you do that, get a magnifying glass, and every day give your fish a good look over to be certain they are fee of spots.

I examine them all on a daily basis. So far so good. Fins are clear, no bumps, lumps, raised scales or spots. So far so good. Thanks for the reply.

Hi. I'm a week away from coming out of hypo for 1st time. I have a 20 gal QT. I did the math on a 5% 1.03 water change it would take 28 changes to go from 1.009 to 1.025. The first change moves it up .001 and the 28th slows to a .0003 move. It there a rate per day that I should strive for????
