Hyposalinity

I just got a foxface and he has ich, I have been researching hyposalinity because I have never tried it (only copper treatment). Which I am not a fan of. My foxface is in a QT 30 gallon tank, I have had him for about 14 days and yesterday I noticed the ich. Everything I have read has said to match the pH exactly, but my problems is my QT tank is at 8.0 pH and my ro/di water is at 8.2. How do I keep the tank at 8.2 without adding buffers? I read one post that you use baking soda and drip it into the tank, but do you just drip it in until its at 8.2 and then keep a watch and if it changes drip more or do I keep the drip going?

Your ph will drop as the salinity does. Generally you need a buffer to up the ph w hypo. You do need a refractometer tho bc the salinity needs to be exact to work
