how long should I wait to get to 1.009? I am at 1.021 right now. Should I have a goal of 1 week to get to 1.009 or is too slow or too quick for the damsel and clown? Once i get to 1.009 do I have to leave it there for a month, or does it just take a few days? I'
ve been looking all over here for these answers but could not find them. ( I typed in hyposalinity in a search) Thanks a lot in advance.

Eric-
I've never done hypo myself, but I have read in a number of posts that you slowly drop the salinity over a few days down to 1.009. Try and search again in the disease forum and I'm sure you will find it.

Over a 48 hour period drop the specific gravity to 1.009 in slow increments. Once at that level, leave it at that level for 1 month AFTER all signs of ick have disappeared from your fish. Then, you can slowly, over the course of a few days, increase the specific gravity back to normal levels. If all is well with your fish following 1 wk at normal levels, return fish back to your main tank.

You started another thread so it is difficult to follow what is happening. Your main tank should remain fish-free for 1 month--which is the tank that had bad ick, right?
If you QT and fish are not showing any signs of ick at the moment, then leave it along. If could be that you lucked out and the ick will not follow your fish over. Certainly, within a month [which you have to wait anyway due to treatment of your main tank] you will know if any of your fish become infected. In the meantime, feed the fish garlic soaked food so that if there is any protazoa present, your fish might get by with just the garlic to ward it off. Do a large water change in your QT. Do a close inspection of your fish at least 2X daily to check for any presence or behaviors that signal disease.

sounds good...the fish are looking fine and acting ok... I will get some garlic soaked food...(I'll ask the owner of a LFS where I can get some) I brought the salinity down to 1.020 but i'll just take it back up a little i guess. I'll wait a month and see...Is it possible that a black and white damsel and a perc clown could be ick resilient? It was a bad case of ick in the main tank...It should be all gone now but I am waiting a month just in case... All the corals and anemone's are doing awesome. I think i'll add a little medicine in the quarantine tank to make sure everything is ok. Then i'll wait. thanks a lot.
