i added Gorgonians (awesome) and Xenia today

well, i added two coral today since my water checked out...
the gorgonians are on like a branch, really different looking and the price was right...
does a "skilter" filter count as a skimmer? or do i need to add a skimmer as well? i have a skilter 250 with my whisper 60 (both hang on back)... also one power head...

The Skilter 'technically' does have a built-in skimmer. However, it's not worth a *beep* :) Plus, it's so loud.
I'd say buy a nice protein skimmer, like the Aqua C Remora.

yeah, dont ever skimp on skimmers! NEVER! they ARE needed in my books, and also, gorgonias eat food in the water coloum, do you know what kinds you have? what color and how do they look? what color polyps?
some gorgonias filter out the planktonic organisms in the water, but some cant, they need meaty zooplankton, thats where cyclopezze(ornage bar of frozen zooplankton, can be bought at LFS) comes in, cyclopezze is the best thing to feed them, its really cool, their polyps grab the cyclopezze out of the water, and you can see the polyps eat it.

i have the purple tree ones....
polyps are a pinkish color.. i'll post a pic monday.. they just opened up a few hours ago...

yeap Cyclopezze will feed them, and plankton will feed the natural zooplankton in your tank for them to eat also.
