I am trapped in a tight decision: Life or Death

I don't know what to do. My CC starfish had white spots and it looks as if it's inside has disappeared just leaving the skin. I'm very upset because I am in a tight decision. A smart knowledgable fish keeper has told me that the starfish incintigrades itself to a brutal death and the humane way is to put it to sleep but I don't know what to do. I am seriously thinking about doing this because it is showing the signs of this terrible way to die. BUt i don't believe in doing this and oh my god, I am not sure what to do, I feel like getting sick just thinking of it. Please, I need someone's help... I need someone's help fast...

I know what you mean.
I had a brittle star that got stiff and would barley move and decided to but it in 2 galon tank with just a air line in it to see if it would come back. But i just think I prolonged it death and amde it a worse onw.
But starfish are tuff little animals.
Having said that the most humane form of euthination I know of it to take the animal put it in a container it cant get out of with some water an put it in the freezer.
My andvice after my atempt to nurse a star back to helth is just to put it out of its pain if it is reay looking bad. Eve though it is hard ot do.
