Okay, its been around 6 months and my 10 gallon nano is still up and running. This is what I started with:
2 clowns
2 emerald crabs
10 turbo snails
10 blue-leg hermits
2 cleaner shrimp
This is what I presently have:
1 clown ( One looked sick and my emerald crabs at her) :(
2 emeralds (One only has one arm) :)
1 turbo snail (9 died)
8 hermits
2 cleaner shrimp
1 carpet anenomie (is about 2 months old....2 nights ago, my clown finally went over to it and is now living side by side w/ it. (I think that they're friends now))
Well here are the pics from the start until now......Tell me what ya think....Enjoy:

I use the regular hood that came w/ the tank, I just use a 10,000k light bulb. i guess it's working because my anenomie looks happier than ever.

.......how long have you had it?!!
it is looking pretty darn white... unless it is a white carpet that is.

I hope you are ready to lose the fish when the carpet dies.No offense meant...but that is far from adequate lighting for a carpet. There is no such thing as a white anemone~in nature.A carpet should never be kept in a ten gallon tank...way too small.

First off, that does not look like a carpet anemone. Regardless, any anemone needs more light than what you have, and the reason it is so white is because it has no zooanthalle (sp?), which are tiny photosynthetic organisms that live inside anemones and give it important nutrients. Without them your anemone will die. I suggest you buy a aqualight pc light such as the 96w quad.

Lights, lights, lights I have a 10 and 20g Nanos that I am starting at the same time. I have 40W in both with standard individaul hoods (2 ea). The 10g takes 2 X 18" Fl bulb. I can not find any of higher intensity. Where can I find them? Or what other opps do I have and where? Also, What is the deal with watts vs K. Are Ks candle light? I am new to this deal and want to be good at it. I am not rich enough to buy cheap though. I do not want to buy the same items over and over and over. I really appreciate this site as I am reading more than I ever have in my life!

get some PC lights.
watts is how much power is used. this affects your electricity bill. obviously the higher the number of watts, the more power the bulbs have AS LONG AS THEY ARE THE SAME TYPES OF BULBS. for example, a 75 watt metal halide will put out a heck of a lot more light than 260 watts of PC.
the K is the spectrum of the bulb measured in degrees kelvin. A yellow bulb is below 10000K. While a 10000K is white, and anything above that is more blue. a 20000K is very very blue.

I don't know where the burger is from. I just think that the picture is really funny

Anyhow.....
I took your advice and I ordered the aqualight 96w 50/50. I ordered it a week ago for 98.00 w/ shipping and it will be here tomorrow :jumping: :jumping: :jumping:
Hopefully this will be enough lighting for my anenomie...it's 9.6 watts/gallon. I'm planning on biweekly feedings of it and hopefully I can get some color out of it.
BTW ...Do you think that I have enough lighting for coral and/or another anenomies? I'm also thinking about getting a lawnmower blenny.
thanks

i woudlnt get a lawnmower blennie. they eat algae, and not all will eat algae sheets.
with 96 watts you will have enough to keep other corals such as LPS, softies, zoos, and mushrooms.
now that i look at it, it does look like a sabae. hopefully its not too late. its not looking very happy and thats an old pic too.
did you order the 96 watt quad bulb? those are usualy used as a refugium light because they are 6500K. at least the only ones ive seen are. your tank will look a little yellow. you might want to get some PC actinics in there. your coral growth will be great at that K rating cause the PAR would be higher, but your tank will just look yellow.
good luck

sorry imnot trying to steal your thread but where did you get your light and would I be ok with the 28watt version of your light or should I return it and find the 96 watt one. I havent used it yet and I would like to keep a few corals. (i have a 10g tank)

Anemones are hard to keep. You definetly need a lot of light. Hopefully with the 96watts, you wont have a heat problem since your tank is so small. Becareful not to put your hands inside without using gloves because if it "IS" a "carpet" anemone, then you might hurt yourself because they are poisonius. If you get a bubble tip anemone, it might do fine with the 96watt Compact lights. Make sure your doing your water changes on time, anemones need good quality water, good light and decent amount of waterflow.
