I can't keep it up.

My PH that is.
I have been adding Seachem Marine Buffer everyday for at least two weeks and I can't break the 8.0 barrier. When I did not add the buffer for two days it dropped back to 7.7. Any ideas on why? The only thing that I can think of is not having a agro type substrate. I have sand of quartz. The test kit is a new Salifert.
CA is 460
ALK is high at 13
Corals are big and healthy looking. Any ideas on how to get the PH up? I am thinking of starting to drip kalk although I have heard it maintains levels and doesn't usually raise them.
Thanks

sorry- and about the buffer what does the lable read? The actual purpose of a buffer is to keep Ph from changing not really alter it

i beleive its low due to your high alk and cal readings. i'm no expert on this but fromm what i've read the 3 go hand in hand.
also how is your circulation? make sure you have good surface aggitation. broomer5 is awesome with the ph, alk, cal relationship if you want search the board with those abbreviations and you should find some good reading.

I tested the Alk again and it is up to 16. I am beginning to think that the Seachem Marine buffer is raising the ALK but not the PH. It says that it is for raising and maintaining the PH to 8.3. I am going to do another water change to try and get the ALK down. However, I still need to know what to do to get the PH up to the desired level. It still is hovering between 7.7 and 8.0. CA is still around 460.
Any help would be appreciated.
