I hooked up a power head to each end of a piece of pvc pipe (1/2 inch), drilled holes in it and stuck it behind my rock and damn, if I do say so myself, it works great. Just thought I'd let you know....

Great idea,,,But I have had the same setup on my tank for about a year now...Look out though,,,Mine has been unplugged for a couple months now,The powerheads got clogged, and they are a pain in the @$$ to dig out from under all the live rock...Maybe someday I will get really bored and tear the whole tank apart to fix the darn thing...Better idea would be to position the powerheads up where you can get too them, and run a flexible hose down the corners and across the back.Or use PVC with a couple elbows,This way only the hose or PVC would be burried under the rock...Powerhead maintenance would be much eaisier this way...

i missed something of importance. why would you want to do this? just to get more water flow across the back of the tank??

Mainly to reduce DEAD SPOTS in and around the rock, and added circulation..It will also keep excess food and waste from settling in behind the rock...Plus most of yourcritters(including fish) spend alot,if not all thier time in the rock.So this makes it nicer for them...
