I don't think these are Nassarius snails!

So I was going to sell these to my LFS cause I have too many, but before I did I wanted to find out the species of the snails. I was told when I bought them that they were nassarius snails but as I'm doing research I have come across some information that is telling me they are Ilyanassa obsoleta and that they are super horrible for my tank and for me as well! Should I get rid of all these snails and take them out of my tank? I feel super horrible cause I gave some to my sister and my fiance for their tank as well!

I think your ID is correct. From what I read alot of retailers sell these as nassarius. I think it's also called a mud snail. From what I have read the only problem is that they can carry flatworms.

Yeah I don't think there Nass Snails either by the looks! I never knew snails could carry worms either!
From what I have read, it seems Japanese oysters brought into San Fransico introduced the problem.
"Using genetics we have shown how the pest snail was introduced and that it came with a parasite that infects fishes and birds," said Mark Torchin, a biologist with STRI. Later, a second parasite came that was spread by migratory birds that ate the infected fish in Japan. The process shows that establishment of an invasive pest can lead to later establishment of disease organisms.

LOL Where do you think I got them from! The user has actually been suspended, my guess is because they were selling them as the real nassarius snails and even had pictures of the real ones! Bunch of liars!
Always ask for pictures with a paper next to the item with the date written on it!

Those look exactly like the snails I received in a reef pack and are advertised as Nassarius. But I didn't get them from the bay, I got them from SWF.com. Doesn't your pic look the same snail? https://www.saltwaterfish.com/site_11...ot_parent_id=4
The SWF picture is a nass for sure, the posters is not. Nass will have that siphon tube out all the time.
Nass snails can not close up on to there shells. it looks like the posters can.
