Well I've had my 29 gallon up and running for almost five months and have had four corals in basic, flourecent, freshwater lights. Lucky for me they did alright, but I bought the Coralife Aqualight Deluxe Series Single Linear Strip today for fifty dollars, and holy cow did it bring out color! I was floored! It's 20" and on the box it says 28 watts. It looks like two bulbs, but they attach in one area and they're like...stuck together (you can tell I'm no electrician lol). One is a white 10,000K and one is a True Atnic 03 Blue. I'm so excited, I want to go out and buy every frag I can find lol. So, before I kill anything, what can I put in my tank with these lights? Just shopping around at my local seller guy, I know he has (and I want):
  • Brain Coral
  • Bubble Coral OR a bubble-tip aneome? (I don't know if I could have an anem under these lights, but I'd rather get one of those if I could.)
  • Candy Cane Coral
  • Frogspawn OR hammer coral. (I like them both but only want one kind.)
  • Torch Coral (I heard these are really aggressive?)
    Ricordia
    Green Star Poylps
    Favites
ORA Stylophora from SWF? (It looks like an Acropora to me and I don't know much about it, but it's probably the prettiest coral I've ever seen and I'd love to get one if I could.)
The LFS where I got the light said I could keep everything except Acropora, but I just wanted to make sure with you guys too. =)

Which do you like more...hammer, frogspawn or torch? Chose one.
The Acropora is a hard coral to keep.
Bubble coral in a small tank isn't a good idea, they have stinger strands that travel across the tank. Lots meaner than any torch coral.
Your tank is still young for an anemone, However, I don't know if the lights are strong enough for one or any SPS corals...

I never had candy cane, or favites.
Star polyps, Ricordia and brains should be fine.

Hmm. Frogspawn FTW I guess. lol No bubble coral, and probably no anemone I suppose, unless someone chimes in who has the same light and is keeping an anemone. Hopefully my clowns will host the frogspawn. lol Thanks for the reply, Flower.
Oh yeah, the stylophora IS an acropora, isn't it?
