I found a sponge.

I just thought it was kinda cool to see this in my sump area today. I re-scapped the tank and did a water change, I looked inside while I was siphoning the junk off the bottom and saw this in there. It is the largest spong I have in the tank and I can't see it. It is about the size of two half dollars, maybe a bit smaller. I think it is fun when you see stuff you didn't put in the tank. I didn't put a single spong in my tank and I have probly a dozen different kinds/colors. Anyway, just sharing.

I imagine you could move it, but I don't believe that type sponge likes much light. So, you probably can't put it in a good veiwing spot! Generally, I see them growing on the underside of my live rock. Also, exposing sponges to air, supposedly, will kill them!! So, be careful there!!

I'm skeptical of the sponges and air aspect. I've read that several times on the board. If you think about it sponges come in to our tanks as hitchhikers on live rock. That rock has been exposed to air. You figure live rock is shipped overnight, if kept moist sponges survive that. Maybe it depends on the sponge??
