Mine did the same - they will go where they like it, be thankful if it stays there and doesn't roam all over the place like into a PH. How about some pictures. Mine was a pretty good size then it split - I wish it didn't because the two halves are small now.

Leave it be. It will decide where it wants to be. While you can kind of get them in the general area you want them, they will choose their spot.
The only reasons I can see that it would stay under the rock and die would be it was already dying, aclimation shock, not enough lighting, less than perfect water quality.
Could you give us some more input about your tank? How old, what type of lighting, water parameters, other inhabitants, etc.
If you have not already done so, now would be the time to cover all powerheads with netting. A roaming nem is more than likely to end up in the powerhead.

Welcome, and good its coming around now! They do go where they want and do as they please. I got one.... FOR A LOT MORE THEN 10 BUCKS... and it moved some where I didn't like it and tried to move a rock near it, didn't realize its foot was holding that rock and ripped the foot.... RIP RBTA... So lesson from my stupidity .... Leave em alone and let them do their own thing!

Yeah, I have never seen a place to upload a pic when I post from my phone. So if there is a way, it would be nice to know. Other then that, upload your pic to a computer and then upload it here!

Yeah, I wish. I made a very poor choice. He went to the back of the tank and I was going to make a change in the tank to "promote" him to move forward where I could see him better and ripped his foot. RBTA is no more. Sorry. I would of gotten a new on but I cant get 10 dollar specimens, like some people
.
So I can't wait to see your RBTA.
https://forums.saltwaterfish.com/forum/thread/339068/jerth6932-s-tank-progress you can see it here when it was alive though

That confuses me, every time I find great deals on SWF, they are always in Illinois, no where close to the ocean!!!! WHY is that so???
Any ways, I got and still have the purple seabae. Shes getting way big these days! Almost outgrown my 24, but don't want to get rid of her!
I would of went with the more intense colored one too!
