I got more rock! how do i clean it?

Hi i just got 30lbs of live rock today in the Mail and it's got alot of dead stuff on it...seems it was never really cleaned at all...how exactly do i wash it up?
do i take a sponge and scrub everything off of it?
should i just put it in my tank to cycle the tank?
anyone know what i should do?

Use a NEW scrub brush, one that has never been used for anything else. Scrub off the dead stuff and rinse off in some fresh SW, then place in your tank. It will still continue to have some die-off, therefore cycling your tank.
