Hey reefcrazy, glad to hear you got'er going.
If you could describe how the drain hose or pipe runs down to your sump, maybe we can offer some suggestions. I use flexible hose, and have tinkered with it enough to know what I should do and not do to reduce bubbles and allow it to run as silent at possible.
How is your drain from the overflow "hooked" up to your sump, and what type of tube, hose or pipe are you using ?

well you can see how much bubbles i get on the first picture it makes so many bubbles it acts like a skimmer. ok in the other two pictures you can see the pipe work on the second one that last l pipe has a straight pipe going up to the over flow box let me know were you tink the problem is at.

Okay I dealt with this problem last weekend.
The drain pipe you have is going vertical right down into the sump. The draining water and AIR have no where to go except out and up - this caused me a lot of bubbles too. I made the drain hose more horizontal and had it empty into the sump more at the surface. Sort of like a chute - half of drain pipe discharging halfway under the water - the other half of the drain hose open to the air.
As the water falls down the drain, it goes more horizontal, running on the bottom of the piping, and allowing the air to escape out the open end of the pipe at the SURFACE of the sump water level. Air gets out and does not cause bubbles.
Water shoots out as water - not air and water.
See if you can use a 45 elbow and a short piece of pipe out of the elbow to allow the draining water and air to shoot out at the surface of sump water level - this is what eliminated my sump bubble problem - and worked very well.
We don't have much room to work in there though.
Your sump is much like mine - little bit cramped.

I had a similar problem with air in the pipe, but mine was causing a gurgling sound. I ended up putting a ball valve on the pipe and restricted the flow a hair. This allowed the air to escape up the pipe.
Hope it helps...

Ed,
I don't disagree with your biobale method, but I think at this point reefcrazy needs to concentrate on the huge number of air bubbles coming down the drain pipe. As he mentioned - and from his picture - it looks like a rolling, foamy, bubbling surface that no slime coated biobale will prevent bubbles from making their way to his return pump. You can only do so much there as you said - but this is where the problem is now. Once this is corrected - I would take the next step as you suggested and get rid of the tiny leftover bubbles - ya know.
Not trying to raise controversy - just focusing on the main problem at hand.
reefcrazy - have you been able to fiddle with the piping at all ?
Flex hose works pretty good for these tight areas, and is pretty cheap stuff. Couple hose clamps and the appropriate size hose may help too.
Later ;)
