There's only a few 0 reply topics on the first page. I just joined and was looking forward to some advice. Hope that's not true. :(

This board has been extremely helpful to me. I am sorry if no one has answered your questions but, maybe you should give us another chance. Try re-wording questions. Sometimes people are just stumped by certain things or they do not want to give misinformation. Are you posting the right questions on the right board? I know I sometimes had trouble if I asked a reef question on the beginner page. Let us know if we can help.

I look at alot topics to see if I can learn anything or wonder the samething. If I know what I'm talking about then I'll answer (not very often)

Patience...your other post hasn't been up for all that long...if no one's answered yet, it's because perhaps those that have the answers aren't monitoring the boards at that particular time.
They will...

If you're not getting responses to a question/post
Try the ^bump^ to keep it active
Someone normally will reply - and then many times the thread becomes alive with activity.
Catchy phases in the topic work well at getting folks attention too ;)

As evidenced by other posts (wink) try asking people to ignore it in the subject:D Seriously though, I thin kthe people with the answers to your question just haven't seen it yet. I answer any question I know that answer to so that I can "earn" the answers I get. However, if I don't think I know the answer I won't just take a shot and steer someone wrong. Though I won't deny that I've probably done it accidentally before. This board is great help with many knowledgable people please don't give up on them just yet.

If you have a question and it isn't answered, try doing a search on that topic. It has probably already been covered. People are on the boards at different times. I try to check the boards 3 times a day, but don't always get to. Have a little patience, and I'm sure someone will answer your question(s). Bo

The best advice I've seen above is from Grouperhead. A lot of redundant posts are ignored simply because people get tired or annoyed with answering the same questions over and over. A search in most cases will find your answer.
A lot of times a post lacks detail. There simply isn't enough information for anyone to give an answer outside of "need more detail." Once users look at those, most don't look again.
Sometimes it is a unique or difficult problem that no one has the answer to. I've had a few of those myself.
And quite honestly, a lot of the questions are basic questions that would be answered by simply taking the time and patience to purchase a basic book on the subject and reading it inside out and backwards and forward before diving into saltwater head first. Sometimes you need to do the work and ask for help when you run into problems after that.

It is true that many of us do read the same posts over and over, but many of us answer again anyway. YOu will often see quite a few reads without replies, bt often many people pop in to see if they can help or if they can learn anything, and often it is the latter or the that they canot help or are affraid to out of fear of giving bad advice. But in any case, the first thing we need to learn with this hobby is not how something works, BUT how to be patient(sometimes it takes a couple of hours toil someone answers or even longer, but remember this is a board, not a chat room. so we do come and go). NOrmally all questions do get answered and sometimes it is only by one or 2 individueals. But this is merely b/c noone else feels that they can help more or the simple fact that it has been answered very well already.

I don't understand this negative thread...I did a search on all of your posts, and all have been answered. Some only once, but it looked like it was answered, others have replies in the doudle digits...

Also, maybe try changing your signature so that it is read horizontally and not vertically. It gets annoying sometimes trying to read through a post when there are quite a few posts with long vertical signatures. And definately take the Caps Lock off; that upsets alot of folks.

I have seen some questions that are very vauge, you don't really know what their asking. And I am guilty of not responding to those questions, but I do answer alot that are 0 response.
People reading this, please put as much info as you can about your problem, and re-read your post. Make sure it makes sense!

Thank you!:D

I have a few ideas on why you might get so many people looking at posts, and no one answering sometimes... I'm a newbie and still trying to figure out what to do, so I will sometimes go on the New Hobbyists board and read all the questions and answers to try to learn something from them. I have the feeling I am not the only one who does this. Don't worry about not being answered, here, everyone gets answered eventually. It may just take awhile. But, as with reef tanks, patience is the key here. :D Keep checking in to your threads and someone will respond, just give them time.

Why bother with questions like this if your mind is already set that we don't answer? I for one, have not been on this weekend. I went with Sinner to his mom's house...never had a free second to get on.
Sometimes I don't answer if someone already answered it. why reply if i have nothing helpful to add?

I have to disagree with you -
I'm new to the site, and relatively new to the hobby as well. I posted a few questions, and had answers that were helpful in a few hours.
:p
