i had some problems

i have a really well stocked tank, and everything keep breeding, so the pop lation is constatnly incresen,, the water was a bit cloudy, so i shut off the pumps and air to let the wat have time to settle, with in mintues stuff started to die, is there something wrong with the water>??? because i thought they would go longer then that,,,, i saved me eel, he was almost dead, but i got him back , i did loose a couple fish,,, be glad for any info on what went wrong...
also i have hundreds of snails , they just don't stop,,, hoever some of there shells show sign of decay, or mayb there is something in the sand that attacks them, and makes little holes???,,, i haven't seen anything but its kinda weird..

sounds to me like you had an ammonia spike. Have you tested your water since this problem arose? Saltwater systems are very easy to over stock if you aren't careful.
