My 12 year old Lab had to be put to sleep today
, she had cancer. I have never shed any tears
about my tank (mabey one day) but today I must say I emotional. She gave me 24/7 unconditional love. Her twin sister died of cancer 2 yrs ago.
Has any one been in my shoes...:=(

Oh, my goodness, I am so very sorry for your loss! Yes I too know the pain of putting a beloved animal family member to rest, it is never easy. I am sure you have heard this, but at least she isn't suffering anymore. My dog "Jessie" whom I had since I was 10 was so bad off that my father had to carry her outside and hold her up so she could pee and not get it on herself. It was horrible to watch. We did have her put to rest, but she still holds a special place in my heart. Again, I am very sorry and I know how you feel.

I share your feelings 100% ... I found out my dog has cancer 3 weeks ago and her time is short. I had to put my other dog to sleep about 7 years ago and I dread doing it again ... she's been with me for 13 yrs. It rips your heart out..

When I was in the 6th grade I had a hunting dog get heat stroke. After that he was very suseptable (sp) to seizures. I finally had my dad take "Ole Jim" to the vet to be put down. Dad brought him back and I buried him under my bed room window.
Makes me all sad thinking about it.
Sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear it and I feel for ya. At least you had 12 years with your dog and I'm sure you have a lot of great memories of your good friend and that's something you can hold on to.

Sorry for your loss. I have never had to do it yet. My first inside dog is still kicking at 11 but we did have a scare awhile back. I was shooken up then so I can only imagine how bad it will be when the time comes.

She was 14 years old and had a strock at home, I had her from a puppy........I am sooo thankfull to her that she gave me all the love and smiles thru the years....Been two years and I still think about her all the time.....really nothing anyone can say to take the pain away at first and just try to be thankfull for the years and time will heal the hurt....

...I feel your pain.
I just recently moved in with my father. I have 6 dogs over at my mothers house. I worked until 11:00 two nights ago, very bad day. I came home to her crying on the phone, saying that Zee, the dog I've had for 10 years had died... ...I never even got to say bye to her...
I'm sorry about your loss... I know it must have been so hard... *Gives you a hug*

I like my dogs more than most people.
They are getting older - 8 and 6. Grey faces, creaking hips, like the shade more than chasing balls in the sun. I will miss them, but I know the first thing I'll see in that better place . . . my Golden standing over me with a ball in his mouth, so happy he is snorting, and his "spinner tail" going.

When you are ready, look for a Lab rescue location near you. I have two rescue dogs. A Golden and a Lab. Great dogs. If I told you their stories it would break your heart. They live like kings here.

I volunteer at the local humane society... I don't see how someone could toss out or abuse an animal... It's disgusting...
