I have fleas!!!! HELP

Any ideas,, obviously i have gotten fleas from my INDOOR KITTY, SONIA,,,I have taken her to the vet and she is getting treated with REVOLUTION and CAPSTAR,, now what can i do about the fleas in the house floor? i cant NUKE the house because of my tank,, HERES the KICKER,, I have hard wood floors!!!! One of the reasons for getting a hard wood floor house was because of its easy to clean and FLEAS.. ANY IDEAS would be greatly appreciated!

If it is all hardwoods then cover your tanks with plastic and spray close to the floors and any furniture.

Lemon Juice. Buy 3-4 bottles, put some into a spray bottle and spray liberally. Probably need to cover the tank while you do that. No chemicals, the lemon juice kills the little buggers deader than doornails. Continue to treat once a week or as needed for heavy infestation for a minimum of FOUR weeks. The second week you are killing the first week's eggs' hatchlings. Third week you are killing the 2nd weeks eggs' hatchlings, and the last week you should be killing the last of the fleas. Keep that spray bottle handy for breakouts. Good luck grasshopper. You have a tough fight ahead of you. Be diligent!

it actually helps control fleas and there eggs.
once you get rid of them in your home I suggest a product like this to keep them out and off the kitty. just research the product first some of them have some really bad side effects.

capstar if I remember is supposed to kill whats on them within so many hours than quit working.
since you are useing these and I honesty missed that part somehow I would start with the yard and work my way in to the house with a pesticide spray like adams youll need to spray the yard and perimeter of the house in 7 more days to kill any newly hatching eggs.
for the inside thats a tuff one because of the tank let me check into a few more options real quick for indoor natural methods.

I have heard lemon juice works but what does the acidic nature of lemon juice do to hardwood floors? just wandering I havent had hardwood floors in a long time.

fleas cannot live on you. once your cat is treated they will die off. Fleas are species specific. dont bother treating your whole house its a waste of money. Trust me on this I have 10 cats 2 dogs and carpets. I deal with fleas every year. FRONTLINE. one word, one solution. one round for my household is over $110 a month during flea season. but it works.

I hate to say that this is completely wrong. They can live on ANYTHING that has blood running through its veins. We dont have fur so they wont stay on us but when they get hungry and ready to lay eggs they will come get dinner. Trust me I am alergic to them and deal with getting bite everytime my animals bring them in so I start early with pesticides.
as far as fo not treat the whole house that statment I am sorry to say isnt true either They can live encased in the eggs for I think its up to 2 years and will reproduce as much as possible when the food source leaves so that there are PLENTY of eggs so when the next meal comes along they will hatch and attack.
I say this because my 2nd house has been empty since July of last year when I walked in a few weeks ago I ended up in the hospital because of how many flea bites I had gotten. They literally covered my from head to toe in a matter of seconds. I only had a minor problem with fleas when I moved out. since then I pay someone to go in a set off bug bombs on a regular basis just in case. I didnt set bombs off in the bedrooms because my dogs NEVER were allowed in there. after all the bombing I went back in 3 days ago and there were none anywhere in the house EXPCEPT the bedrooms. I was watching carefully as I went so I didnt get bite but once or twice and a benadryl took care of that. but needless to say I call the guy I had been paying to bomb the place and he was back bombing the REST of the house.

I have to add, Frontline does NOT work on my pets. I have 6 cats and 2 dogs, and for me Frontline was a waste of money. My vet even said it doesn't always work.

outside around your house if you can find them are 2 different things diatamacous earth with is petrified algae that is ground and a larval form of a small fly *cant remember the name* but it feeds on the eggs of fleas and ticks the diatomacous earth lodges in there lungs and kills them.

before i had a tank, i'd go to the store and in the garden center there was something that worked for outside or inside. worked like a champ, one maybe two sprays no more problem. not sure if it would be ok with a tank or not. but it didn't smell bad, just worked. i may be able to find the name if you want, but i'd go with a more natural way with a tank now....i'll try the lemon juice idea next time.

we were both wrong, (though you are right they can live on humans)
The known mammalian hosts for cat fleas are raccoons, opossums, weasels, feral and domestic dogs and cats, skunks, domestic rabbits, red squirrels, gray foxes, gray squirrels, calves, humans, brown rats, short-tailed shrews, townsend chipmunks, coyotes, and goats.
