Please help...I have a 55 gallon tank and everything has been going ok (about 7-8 months tank) until now. I added water (tap water because I didn't have a chance to get distilled water and thought it would be ok since I did start with tap water and we have a well so it's not clorinated water) anyway, after I added the water within a day I lost 2 fish...now I've lost 4 and the number is rising. I have 2 floaters tonight. Can this get into your corals???? Please....any advice how to get rid of it......I didn't know you could get ick in saltwater tanks....you can tell I'm very new and uneducated when it comes to saltwater!! I added prime and aquasafe to the water when added and then I checked the water and it seemed like everything was ok unless I don't have all the test. I test for ammonia, of course salt, PH, and Nitrate. What else should I test for??? Thanks ANYONE!!! DD

Oh, you can definately get ich in your saltwater tanks. Check out the FAQ Thread and read the post on ich. The best treatment is hyposalinity [there is a detailed post on this procedure in the FAQ Thread as well]. Unfortunately, there is no easy solution since you have a reef tank.
Read the info on Quarantining Fish before putting them in your aquaria. This is the best way to manage fish in this hobby.

Well I'd like to help you figure out why the fish got ich in the first place. When you added the water, did you heat it up so that the temperature was the same as that in your aquarium? Did you drop or raise the salinity too much when adding the water? What was the pH of the water added to the tank? These are all things I would look into.
