Looking for help with IDing this ???
I haven't been logged on since March of 07. Shame on me. I love it here and everyone seems to be very helpful. I hope I remember how to do this and attach the photo I need help with. I bought this rock because it had a number of different growths on it including this big round red/brown object in the center of the photo. It is almost 2" in diameter and about 4" long. It is semi-ridged but does sway some in the current of my tannk. I love it but can't find out what to call it. Anyone out there with any ideas?? also, please look at the coral in foreground. The are also brown. Do they look ok to you? I can't tell and haven't had them long enough to detect any growth etc. Thanks in advance for your input. Calabashman

I'm moving your thread to the "ID Please" forum. It'll get more attention and a faster answer there.

Tubastrea faulkneri (aka sun corals) are non-photosynthetic and thus very difficult to maintain long-term in the aquarium. It's hard for me to see your pic - in the first photo, it looks like there is some 'meat' left on the coral, but in the second photo, all I see is skeleton. A better photo might give us a chance to see if the coral is even still alive. If it is, it will take a lot of care and patience to get the coral to open up, be fed frequently, and recover.
