I have some questions that need answers...

Hello everyone, I have some questions about my aquarium. My first question is about LS and CC. Right now I am using regular gravel, I want to change that. But I'm not sure which is better, LS, or CC? I have had sand before, and it was a bit messy for me so I'm not sure which would be better. Also, I want to get mushrooms for my aquarium, so I was wondering if there are bulbs that I can use with my hood that will only take 25 watts max on both sides, for a total of 50 watts. Also, I am looking to add some clean up crew to my tank, but I'm not sure what to get. These are my specs:
10 lbs of LR
aquaclear filter
aquaclear 10 mini powerhead
2 mini compactflourescent bulbs 11 watts each
and i have 3 fish.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

what size tank? for lighting anyway. ls is usually better than cc. there is live cc so ive heard. but most of the people that have had cc switched it out for ls, including the new owners of the live fs near me. alot of the goodies (bacteria/food) will sink below the cc and makes it hard for cleaning crews and fish to eat and or do their job also the waste can fall between cc as well making it harder for you to clean as well.
what lights u use depends on what yuour gonna have in ur tank...corals and etc

never use CC...unless you like to vacuum the tank all the time, i wanted to strangle the LFS guy who told me to use CC, especially after i had a bristle worm outbreak and they loved the CC. i switched and will never go back!

Thanks for the tip. I decided to go with ls and just did the switch today. now i just need to find 20 watt compact flourescents which i am having trouble finding, then wait for my tank to settle after that change of subtrates and i will be good to get some mushrooms. anyone know where i can find 20 watt compact flourescents? i've got them, but only 10 watts each.

No idea about the compacts, sorry. But I also switched out my CC for live sand and never had a nitrate problem again. I vacuumed my CC everytime I did a water change, twice a month, and it was still insane. Best thing I ever did for my tank was get rid of the junk.
