Hey everyone!! I have these bulbs that were left over on my husbands construction job site (brand new- not used) and I'm curious to know what you guys think. Are they suitable for aquarium use? I realize I have to build the proper canopy with adequate ventilation and reflection. I just wanted to get your opinions.
Thanks very much in advance

JCSOCCERT,
Being a retired electrician I too, have many MH fixtures lying around. I tried these fixtures and found the light spectrum to be not suitable for salt water aquariums. The proper light spectrum should be in the range of the following:
Metal Halide single and double ended bulbs in color/temperatures of 10, 12, 14 & 20K.
If all you have is the bulbs IMO you would be waisting time and money and ending up with a fixture that produces a very yellow looking light and not the "white" or "blue" that is produced by the color/temperatures of 10, 12, 14 & 20K.
I hope this has been helpful.....Jim
